AMD reported third-quarter data-center revenue of $8.546 billion, up 97% from a year earlier, as demand for its server and accelerator business diverged from gaming. The November 3 release covers the quarter ended September 26, 2026. Total company revenue reached $13.377 billion, up 45% year over year.

The company’s client business generated $2.949 billion, up 7%, while gaming revenue fell 40% to $773 million. AMD attributed client growth to Ryzen mobile processors and the gaming decline to lower semi-custom and graphics revenue. Client and Gaming together form one reporting segment; their combined revenue declined 8%.

The gaming figure is not a standalone measure of retail Radeon card sales. It combines different revenue sources, and the release does not isolate how much of the decline came from each. Revenue also differs from unit shipments, market share and measured hardware performance.

For the fourth quarter, AMD forecast revenue of approximately $17 billion, plus or minus 3%. That is management’s outlook, rather than completed sales or a guarantee of product availability.

Reuters reported analysts’ differing expectations for the data-center business. TD Cowen analysts saw AMD’s roadmap and software ecosystem supporting its role as an alternative to Nvidia. Morgan Stanley analysts cautioned against assuming the current pace of server-CPU growth would continue indefinitely amid an industry shortage. Those are business assessments, not independent benchmark results.

Editorial Opinion

AMD’s results show why a chipmaker’s headline growth can tell PC buyers little about their own market. A strong server business does not answer whether a particular graphics card is good value or available at a reasonable price. The next useful evidence for consumers is product-specific pricing, stock and reproducible tests. Nor does this revenue split establish that AMD diverted a particular shipment or production allocation away from gaming.
