Our DDR5, SSD and RTX 5070 Ti tracker records prices; this companion explains what to check before comparing those offers. It is a compatibility guide, not a benchmark ranking or a promise that an upgrade will improve every application.

DDR5: start with the motherboard and processor

DDR4 and DDR5 modules are not interchangeable. Kingston’s platform guide explains their different electrical requirements and keying; changing memory generation requires a compatible motherboard and processor. Match the exact kit capacity, module count, transfer rate and latency to the system’s documented support. A family name or a higher advertised speed does not establish compatibility. (Kingston Technology, 2026)

Capacity and transfer rate answer different questions. Kingston also notes that populating four DDR5 slots can reduce supported speed on AMD and Intel platforms. Check the exact board’s memory list, processor support and firmware instructions before assuming a two-module rating applies to four modules. Kingston sells memory; its performance discussion is not an independent benchmark of your configuration.

SSDs: separate the connector, interface and workload

Samsung’s 990 PRO datasheet identifies PCIe 4.0 ×4, NVMe 2.0 and M.2 2280 as distinct specifications. It lists up to 7,450 MB/s sequential reads under stated test conditions, not guaranteed performance in every machine. Check whether the slot supports the drive’s interface and physical size, whether a heatsink fits, and whether the quoted result measures the work you actually do. (Samsung Electronics, 2022)

The same datasheet lists different endurance limits for the 1TB and 2TB models: 600TB and 1,200TB written, respectively, with a five-year limited warranty subject to its terms. Those are manufacturer warranty specifications, not predictions of exactly when a drive fails. Capacity, warranty and sustained-workload evidence matter alongside a short peak-speed claim.

RTX 5070 Ti: the board variant still matters

The tracker compares a GPU model across board manufacturers, but installation requirements belong to the exact card. For example, Gainward’s Phoenix V1 datasheet lists 16GB, 300W total graphics power, a 750W-or-greater ATX 3.X system power-supply recommendation and a 331.9mm board length. Its cooler occupies three slots. These are Gainward’s specifications for that board, not universal dimensions for every RTX 5070 Ti. Check the card manual, case clearance, power connections and the rest of the system before purchase. (Gainward, n.d.)

Editorial Opinion

Compare the full cost of a working upgrade: the component, any necessary platform or power changes, and the time needed to install it. The cheapest qualifying card in a price sample can change from week to week without becoming the best fit for a particular case. Establish compatibility first, then use independent tests of the relevant configuration and workload to judge performance value.

References

Gainward.
